PSYKOPOMP
Multi-faceted artist Pierre Audiger presents his first collection
of abstract and macabre art under the name of Psykopomp.
Taking inspiration from the universes of David Lynch, Victor Hugo, Pierre Soulages and Dali as well as borrowing freely from Japanese culture the Psykopomp artworks gather a variety of aesthetics.
Either completely abstract or slightly more evocative, sometimes featuring brutal and reckless compositions, other times subtle and full of poetry, Psykopomp’s art questions the lines and crosses, mixes textures of thick acrylic strokes and splashes of sumi ink, always aiming to translate
the movement of a brush, a pen, a drop of ink, the graphic gesture, into the work itself.
Pierre Audiger grew up surrounded by the paintings of his maternal grandfather,
a surrealist painter and drawer, as well as his own father, a plastic artist and painter
undergoing a constant creative process coming up with new artistic concepts
and a great diversity of aesthetics.
His obsession with the horse figure transpires in his depiction of this mystical animal in various scenes, where it poses as a half-man, much like Jeff Goldblum, is crucified repeatedly, or simply stands behind a fence, overlooking the human world, waiting for the dead soul to transit.
